This advanced test can offer insight into whether your symptoms are a result of an over/under-active thyroid or a thyroid autoimmune condition.

You should consider getting tested if you:

  • Have symptoms of an overactive thyroid
  • Have symptoms of an underactive thyroid
  • Have a family history of thyroid conditions
  • Have an autoimmune condition such as coeliac infection or type 1 diabetes

For most people, it is not necessary to collect their sample while fasting, or in other words, before they have eaten or drank anything that morning (other than water). Although sometimes not fasting can have a small impact on TSH levels, so we recommend seeking advice from your doctor about what is best for you.
