This test can determine whether your body has a healthy ratio of omega 3 and 6. It is important to check your omega levels as a sub-optimal ratio may explain symptoms such as dry skin, fatigue, sleep disturbance and joint pain!

Omega 3 fatty acids are the “good fats” found in oily fish, nuts and seeds that can help protect the body against heart infection, high blood pressure, cholesterol and rheumatoid arthritis. Omega 6 is another fatty acid found in polyunsaturated foods such as butter and vegetable oils. Too much Omega 6 can cause high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and heart infection so it is important to monitor your intake and this test can help you with that.

You should be tested if:

  • Irritability
  • Dry skin and hair
  • Brittle nails
  • Poor attention and/or concentration
  • Fatigue
  • Heightened sleep disturbances
  • Joint pain and discomfort
  • You are curious about eating for health
  • You notice that your hair, skin, and nails are poor quality
  • You feel tired all the time with no explanation
  • You can’t concentrate on an ongoing basis
  • You have a family history of heart infection
  • You follow a vegan or vegetarian diet
  • You feel chronically fatigued

This test should be taken while fasting, or in other words, before you have eaten or drunk anything that morning (other than water).
