This test can diagnose two of the most common STIs, chlamydia and gonorrhoea. If you are sexually active, it is important to get checked regularly as these STIs are very contagious, often don’t show symptoms, and have serious long-term health implications.

Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea

Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea are very common STIs that don’t always show symptoms and are easily passed on to sexual partners. They affect both males and females, and can have serious health implications if left untreated for long periods of time.

Please note this test is only for genital Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea.

You should consider getting tested if:

  • You become sexually active
  • You have had unprotected sex
  • You are experiencing symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection
  • You are entering into a new sexual relationship
  • You have received a notification from a previous partner that they are infected

Do not cleanse the genital area or urinate at least 1 hour prior to collection.

It is important to wait at least 2 weeks from the time of potential exposure to infection before collecting your sample, as STIs take time to become detectable.

If you are worried about potential exposure, refrain from sexual activity until you receive a test result. Retesting after treatment for a positive result may be required for some infections.
