Acton Travel Clinic has official stock of all of the UK 2022/2023 flu vaccine.
The symptoms of flu will hit you severely and suddenly. They will usually include a high temperature, chills, headaches, and aching muscles. A sore throat will often accompany these symptoms. Colds are often mistaken for flu, however they are less severe, and often start gradually with a runny nose or sore throat. For some patients, Flu can lead to serious illnesses like bronchitis or pneumonia, and may require hospital treatment.
The main purpose of the flu vaccine is to protect those patients who are at risk of developing complications that can result from flu.
For private patients, we offer vaccines from £20.00
For children aged 2-17 the flu nasal spray is proven to be twice as effective as the needle injection. The price for the nasal spray is £35 per dose. This will be in stock from beginning to mid October.
Please note if your child is under 9 years of age and has never previously had a flu vaccination, they will require two doses.
The flowing patient groups are eligible for FREE vaccinations under the NHS.
- All patients aged 50 or over
- Pregnant women
- Anyone with a serious long-term health condition, including:
- chronic (long-term) respiratory diseases, such as asthma (which requires an inhaled or tablet steroid treatment, or has led to hospital admission in the past), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema or bronchitis
- chronic heart disease, such as heart failure
- chronic kidney disease
- chronic liver disease, such as hepatitis
- chronic neurological conditions, such as Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), learning disability or cerebral palsy
- diabetes
- problems with your spleen – for example, sickle cell disease or if you have had your spleen removed
- a weakened immune system as the result of conditions such as HIV and AIDS, or medication such as steroid tablets or chemotherapy
- being seriously overweight (BMI of 40 or above)
